We just got our one year follow-up scans and so far so good. Just 19 years to go (these things can go malignant a long ways out).

Thanks for joining. I sent you a bracket. You don't have to save anything. It is a shared document between you and I such that I see all your edits automatically.

Here's a sneak preview of what's in development.

A lot of original content would be easier to produce and manage on a blog setup rather than a message board setup, so I've been setting up a companion site for original content. I'm still trying to decide on a single login option for both the message board and blog components so that users are automatically signed into both with one sign-on. I'll make that decision by the beginning of next month. You're free to register at the companion site in the interim.

SaltyBoard

Football landing page: it will be easier to keep the schedule, roster, depth chat and highlight videos/interviews on each sport specific landing page.

Pick'em: This is one function that requires a login.

Contests/Promotions: I'm going to keep this one a little under wraps for now, but I've got a good promo planned for the mini relaunch.

So what's with that sidebar?
Each board contains several Labels that can be applied to posts on that board. More than one label can be applied to a post. For example a Recruiting label and a CFB label (college football) could be applied to a post celebrating a new football commitment. These Labels can then be used to filter activity on the boards, and the right side icons link to this filtered content. The labels are as follows:

• GameDay: GameChat, Tickets, GameDay Visitors
• Utah Sports: CFB (college football), MBB (men's basketball), Recruiting, PAC12, Olympic (miscellaneous non-revenue sports), Gymnastics, WBB (women's basketball), Hockey, Baseball
• Off Trax: Off topic connversation covering Parks and Rec (outdoor recreation), TV/Film. Music, Education
• Professional Sports: Alumni (Utes in pro sports), NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, MMA
• Feedback: Site feedback has only a feedback label.
• Cesspool:

Labels can be apllied using the label dropdown menu at the far right of the thread action bar. Labels may be applied either before or after a thread is created.

I'm going to start advertising, and since people seem not to hate the name SaltyUtes and because it's easier to remember than uofuboard.com, I've decided to change the URL to SaltyUtes.com. This will happen tomorrow night now.

UofUboard.com will still function as a viewable home page, but you'll have to log in through SaltyUtes. I apologize for the inconvenience for those of you who have bookmarked specific pages within the forum.

EDIT: I started testing some things and got to the point where it was easier to finish the transition than revert back to the UofUboard.com default, so I went ahead and finished transitioning the default to SaltyUtes.com

You can now also change the board destination within the posting page using a simple dropdown next to the "create thread" button

OK- so I put them back in a much less intrusive format with a button in the header jnstead of the open box.

Didn't address this part. The label won't generate a new thread. The label is just a handle that can be used to sort/retrieve certain threads within a board..

Oh geez: People will love my misspelling of university.

I don't think anyone was using the stream to navigate the board, so hopefully the change isn't bothersome. The link now requires the user to be logged n but can be limited to thread starting posts and has a new thread indicator.

In a day of firsts, we had our first ban and our first hosting issue with a major slowdown across all proboards hosted sites. The proboards issue appears resolved. Hopefully the troll issue is as well.

I'm trying to incorporate the recent thread activity into the homepage, but it's being a little glitchy in not recognizing original posts (first post in thread) on the Utes Athletics and Off Topic Boards. I'm leaving it active for now so the plugin developer can troubleshoot. In the interim, I'll be bumping those threads to make sure they appear.

The Professionals has been split out from the Off Topic category. Topic labels are Alumni (Utes in the Pros), NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, MMA. The links are built for the sidebar but I still have to format the thumbnails.

Some temporary thumbnails have been added to the sidebar. Will clean up the appearance of this category when I have some more time.

A lot of the home pages elements may be collapsed by clicking on the header. Here is a minimalist view of the home page.

Hopefully this makes the home page more navigable.

Appears to be working. Will expand to display more threads as threads are posted.

Well it's present in all the views but not updating. This plugin is disappointing, but hopefully will be a nice feature when it's sorted out.

You mat have noticed some small changes to the site, and maybe some briefly more noticeable changes when my 2 yr old tried to help. Here's a rundown:
1) the header (top photo) is now a link that will take you to the home page.
2) your profile now shows likes received and has a button for private messaging.
3) Likes display at the bottom of the post.
4) the sidebar has buttons for PAC-12 and TV/Movies.
5) the Top 5 button now works from the homepage and personal Dashboard views. Icons in thread titles was removed because it interferes with the top 5 formatting.
6) there is a reminder to add labels to new Threads. The sidebar categories run of the labels, so they're important for visibility to Threads you initiate.

I'm just testing out a different navigation option, which you're free to check out. It's pretty clunky right now.
