Out offense just went from 1.5 dimensional to 1 dimensional. We're going to need Troy and Patrick to be on their A game and Joe W to have some juice in his legs to win this game.

Houston hires BJ

I always have mixed feelings about any news related to BJ. I congratulate him on the promotion-he deserves it. Seeing him progress, however, always generates some mixed feelings.

I (for probably the only time in my life) has some pretty good inside info from a coach that was previously on staff with DC about how big of an asshole Dave Christensen was and what a disaster he was going to be at Utah. I also thought the DE/BJ offense was conceptually pretty good, but with personnel recruited to a prostyle offense and young, injured TW and Poole as our guys in the backfield, we were not going to be great on offense. In retrospect, a lot of the issues with the terrible 2012 offense are probably due to ARod's contribution to that offense as we see much of the same disjointedness now.

I'm glad we found Harding in the DC fiasco, but I still wonder what could have been (especially at the QB position) with DE and BJ.

Do we recruit mobile QBs or pass-first QBs?

Do we run the read option?

Do we recruit possession receivers or guys who are dangerous in space?

Do we recruit small fast running backs who can operate in space or power backs to work between the tackles?

Is the TE a bigger part of our pass game or run game?

Do we recruit long mobile linemen or guys who can move bodies in close quarters?

Would you rather the offense be explosive or control the clock?

ARod thinks he runs a multiples offense, but really the answer to each of these questions is "It Depends".

So his offense should just be called Depends. It's a great name because:
1) no one wants to admit using it.
2) after a while it starts to smell like a shit/piss cocktail.
3) the answer to every offensive philosophy question is: it Depends
